Landing Pages & Custom Parameters An Introduction
With Clickthroo you are able to set up Custom Parameters (usually passed by your ad network/traffic source) that will be added to your Campaign URL, and will provide additional tracking information.
These parameters capture specific campaign details, which are all reported in the Clickthroo reporting section (report type>custom parameters). For example, you might want to track the keywords that were used or the referral URL.
An example that would track the keyword used and the match type of the keyword from a PPC advert would be:
http://site.example.co.uk/?ct_ts=idS7Y&keyword={keyword}&ct…
To set up your Custom Parameters head to the ‘Traffic Sources‘ section of the Campaign Wizard. Here you will be able to set up Custom Parameters for the URL of any of the integrated traffic sources.
Once you have selected the traffic source you wish to add custom parameters too, you will then see the parameters that are available for that particular traffic source:
Simply click on the available parameters that you wish to use and they will automatically be inserted into the section above, creating your tracking URL. The parameter will then be added to the custom parameter reporting, which is accessible in the main reporting section. This will use the ‘Title’ that is set for each parameter as seen in the screenshot above.
You can then find your new Campaign URL, with the customer parameters attached, in the ‘Campaign Overview‘ section.
